We Are Ithaca: A Celebration In Portraits

In 2017, photographer Robyn Wishna began a multi-faceted portrait project that used the power of photography to engage diverse communities within the Ithaca city. The project aimed to celebrate the unique and colorful identities in the Ithaca area. The goal of the project is to provide an informative and inspirational visual foundation to our vibrant community, as well as share as a strong historical foundation for future generations.

The Evolution of the Project and Its Accomplishments

We Are Ithaca hosted 28 portrait sessions throughout the Ithaca area in 2017 and 2018, which made up to more than 1,200 images of local Ithacans. People were invited to bring something meaningful to the portrait session and/or be dressed in clothing that speaks to a part of their identity, life, and history. Those who were willing to share something about themselves on video were invited to do so.

We Are Ithaca is still creating and producing videos that cover the Coronavirus Pandemic in Ithaca. You can view the We Are Ithaca website and Instagram at the links below.
